What is UPSC exam and how should I prepare?
There are many exam conducted by UPSC IAS,IPS,IFS and NDA cds and etc.
Civil services includes IAS IPS IFS and other services. But NDA CDS are defence services.
About civil service exam
Civil services exam are divided into three parts.
1- preliminary examination
2- means examination
3- personality test/interview
About prelims exam(objective)
The prelims paper is divided into two parts.
. Paper 1- general studies (200 mark's)
Duration- two hours
. paper 2- CSAT (200 mark's) (qualifying paper)
Duration - two hours
About mains exam (1750 mark's)
The written examination will consist of the following papers;
Qualifying paper:
Paper A: (one of the Indian language to be selected by the candidate from the languages includes in the 8th schedule to be constitution)
Paper B: English
Papers to be counted for merit--
Paper-I : Essay
Paper-II : General studies-I [Indian heritage and culture, history and geography of the world and society]
Papee-III : General studies-II [governance, constitution, polity, social justice and international relation]
Paper-IV : General studies-III [technology, economic development, biodiversity, security and disaster management]
Paper-V : General studies-IV [ ethics, integrity and aptitude]
Optional subject:
Paper-VI : Optional Subject - paper-I
Paper-VII : Optional Subject- paper-II
About personality test/interview
-- Candidates who qualify the UPSC mains exam will be called for the personality test/interview.
--The interview test will be of 275 marks and total marks for written examination is 1750. this sums up to a grand total of 2025 marks based on which the final merit list will be prepared.
Age limit:
General- 21-32 years -6 attempts
OBC - 21-35 years (3 years Relaxation) -- 9 attempts
EWS - 21-32 years- 6 attempts
SC/ST - 21-37 years ( 5 years Relaxation)-Till the age limit
Physically disabled candidates (blind,deaf-mute, orthopedic)- 21-42 years (10 years Relaxation) -- for the general and OBC- 9 attempts and SC/ST - till the age limit.
Education criteria:
-- Graduate in any discipline.
-- No minimum percentage.
UPSC IAS EXAM 2020 Important Dates:-
IAS Preliminary date 2020* - October 4, 2020
IAS Mains exam date 2020* - January 8, 2021( 5 days )
IAS personality test/ interview* - March/April 2021
IAS final result* - May 2021
( * = Due to corona, the date may be further, so keep check official website for upsc.)
Roles and Responsibilities :-
The role of IAS officers is very venerable, demands a great deal of responsibility and reverence. It is also important that an officer is physically and mentally fit and healthy to handle the work pressure without giving in.
